Wine Spectator awards 23 Kansas City restaurants for outstanding wine lists

Let’s raise a glass to Kansas City restaurants with world-class wine selections.

Wine Spectator has released its

2013 Restaurant Wine List Awards

-- and more than 20 went to Kansas City-area restaurants and bars. Among them: Everything from white-tablecloth Plaza steakhouses to Minsky’s Pizza. Yep, Wine Spectator says Minsky’s serves great vino.

The magazine’s annual international awards come in three tiers: The highest honor, the Grand Award, usually goes to select restaurants with super-deep wine selections that exceed 1,500 varieties. Second place is Best of Award of Excellence and third, Award of Excellence.

Wine Spectator didn’t hand out any of its Grand Awards in Kansas City this year, but three local restaurants scored the coveted Best of Award of Excellence:

Osteria Il Centro

,

The American Restaurant

The Capital Grille.
