The Red Door Grill

, the new Leawood restaurant from James Beard award-winning chef Debbie Gold.

According to Smith’s column, The Red Door Grill, located near the intersection of 119th and Roe in the Camelot Court shopping center, serves appetizers such as squid and chips, burgers made with McGonigle’s Market’s custom blend of beef brisket, short rib and chuck tenderloin, and sandwiches featuring pulled pork, fire-grilled steak and rotisserie chicken from

The Local Pig.

More tasty tidbits from Smith’s story: “Entrees will include white sweet tacos with epazote beans, cabbage slaw and crema queso fresco with a choice of rotisserie pork or grilled sirloin; scallops with fire roasted creamy corn and charred spring onion; salmon with fire roasted radicchio and tomato gravy; hanger steak, chimichurri, fire roasted oyster mushrooms and bone marrow; sirloin with roasted tomatoes, toasted garlic and potatoes; chicken with creamy mashed potatoes; and pork with wood-fired polenta.”

On the dessert menu: Sarsparilla donut holes served with Christopher Elbow sweet cream ice cream.

On the drink menu: “Cocktails like the Colada Punch, the Berry Cherry Mojito and the Blood Orange Cosmo. Red Door Grill also is consulting with Kansas City’s Doug Frost, an American Master of Wine and Master Sommelier, on the wine list and it plans to have a range of prices. It also will have eight regionally crafted beers on draft and by the bottle.”

Gold, a contestant on Bravo’s “Top Chef Masters,” was previously executive chef at The American Restaurant. She’s a culinary partner in The Red Door Grill. The restaurant’s chef, Jacob Moeller, previously worked with Gold and was most recently with The Elms Hotel Spa in Excelsior Springs.
