Each year, the American Homebrewers Association hosts a series of rallies that give members the chance to mingle behind the scenes at breweries across the country.

The AHA’s first-ever Kansas rally is set for 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Free State Brewing Co.’s production plant at 1923 Moodie Road in Lawrence.

During the rally, AHA members can tour the brewery, purchase discounted merchandise, meet Free State founder Chuck Magerl and taste complimentary beer samples. There will also be a homebrew competition, and the winning beer will eventually be brewed by Free State.

The rally is free for AHA members. Not a member? The AHA will sell discounted memberships at the rally (full price for a one-year membership is $43 online). You can RSVP for the rally at homebrewersassociation.org.
