Bottoms up, everyone — it’s National Tequila Day! And there’s no better way to celebrate than with Kansas City’s best margaritas, especially as the heat hits.

If you want to start with a very popular option, Ponak’s Mexican Kitchen on Southwest Boulevard serves what they call the “world’s best margaritas” on tap.

Port Fonda in Westport infuses peppers and pineapple in their $10 margs, or you can splurge on the $26 Don Julio margarita. Also available: a margarita flight which includes four mini margs for $16. The choice is yours.

El Patron Cocina & Bar on Southwest Boulevard is also a popular spot for margaritas, serving them at half price during happy hour from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

If you’re in the mood to make your own, you can try this recipe for a margarita slush, which adds frozen lemonade and limeade for an especially refreshing option.
