The Star’s food coverage has received three nominations the Association of Food Journalists’ annual excellence in journalism contest.
The Star is a finalist for three awards: Best Newspaper Food Coverage, Best Special Food Project and Best Food Blog. Winners will be announced in September at the association’s annual conference in Orlando, Fla.
This year there were 61 finalists in 19 categories. AFJ entries came from newspapers, magazines, blogs and other online sources.
AFJ awards recognize excellence in all aspects of food journalism: reporting, editing, layout, feature writing, column writing, restaurant criticism, specialty food writing (beer, wine and spirits; food policy and issues), special projects or series, essays, blogging, multimedia projects, and food visuals. New categories this year are Best Newspaper Food Website and Best Online-Only Food or Dining Publication.
