Next week, the Kansas City brewery releases yet another new sour beer, Za’Tart. The spiced sour ale, brewed in collaboration with Cambridge Brewing Co. in Cambridge, Mass., has a malt bill of pale malt, buckwheat, spelt and rye. It gets tang from lactobacillus bacteria and subtle spiciness from oregano, thyme and sumac.
According to Boulevard’s blog, the collaboration with Cambridge Brewing Co.’s brewmaster, Will Meyers, was sparked at Taps & Tastes, the beer festival portion of June’s Boulevardia festival. Cambridge was one of more than 40 breweries that participated in Taps & Tastes.
Za’Tart will be available on tap only in the greater Kansas City area, including Lawrence. Look for it in bars starting next week.
