Spring is in the air — can you smell the hops? Kansas City is brewing at least nine beer festivals in the next three months. Here’s what’s on tap:
April 11: Kegs ‘N’ Eggs is a craft beer festival and an adult Easter egg hunt rolled into one event. Participants get to roam the Kansas City Renaissance Festival Grounds looking for eggs that contain cash or tickets that can be redeemed for prizes. Tickets cost $15 until March 11, $20 between March 12 and April 10, or $25 the day of the event. Go to kegsneggskc.com for more info.
April 25: The 12th annual Parkville Microbrew Fest in Parkville’s English Landing Park features beer samples from more than 40 breweries, plus live music and food. Tickets cost $30 in advance or $35 the day of the festival. Designated drivers get in free. Go to parkvillemicrobrewfest.com for more info.
Also on April 25: America On Tap, which organizes beer festivals around the country, is coming to Kansas City’s Richard L. Berkley Riverfront Park. May 16: The Hopfest Craft Beer Festival returns to The Well, 7421 Broadway, with more than 250 beers from around 50 breweries. The festival also features a home brew competition, a DJ, food trucks and a tented beer garden. General admission tickets cost $40 and get you unlimited samples from 2-6 p.m. VIP tickets cost $60 and include early entrance at 1 p.m. Go to waldowell.com for more info.
May 17: Tour De Bier KC is an annual bicycle tour of Kansas City breweries and brewing landmarks that ends with a party at Knuckleheads Saloon in the East Bottoms. Participants can choose between 17, 35 and 65-mile tours. Registration costs $40; proceeds benefit BikeWalkKC. Members of BikeWalkKC get a $10 discount on registration. May 30: At the Kansas City Microbrews and BBQ Festival, you can sample beers from local microbreweries and chow down on local ‘que at the Kansas City Museum in Northeast Kansas City. June 13, 14, 20 and 21: In June, Worlds of Fun debuts its All American Barbecue & Brew Festival. Tickets to the two-weekend festival cost $25 each (not including admission to the theme park). Festival ticketholders get two 4-ounce tastings of beer at six different locations in the park, plus barbecue samples from Worlds of Fun executive chef Kevin Williams. June 19-21: Boulevardia returns to the West Bottoms on Father’s Day weekend with craft beer, live music, food trucks, family activities, crafts and eco-education booths. Tickets to the street festival’s craft beer tasting event, Taps & Tastes, are sold out, but $15 general admission tickets are still available and not expected to sell out.
