913 | New Year's resolutions, suburban-style

I don't normally make New Year's resolutions. I would just be setting myself up for failure, and there's that whole following-the-herd thing, which I'd like to think is not me. Plus, New Year's resolutions are why fitness clubs are so packed for the first six weeks of the year that it's impossible for the regulars to find even so much as a parking spot, much less a treadmill. My jealousy of their self-discipline (and their six-pack abs) is no reason to crowd them out of their rightful space. Like many lazy writers before me, though, I've been sucked in by the electromagnetic pull of the New Year's Resolution Column. Suburban living offers so many opportunities for self-improvement, mentally and physically, that it was kind of hard to know where to begin (or end). My top 10 (more or less):
