The Spring Parade of Homes is a favorite time to explore the best in new home construction throughout Kansas City. Yet it’s also an ideal opportunity for prospective buyers to experience all that a new home community has to offer, including amenities and location. As the Spring Parade concludes Sunday, don’t miss a chance to visit Cottonwood Canyon and see for yourself why so many people are captivated by this idyllic oasis in the heart of Lenexa.

At the top of the list? A quiet, picturesque location off of Prairie Star Parkway that offers unparalleled views of Cottonwood Canyon’s lush surroundings. That same location is near Interstate 435, which means homeowners can easily access destinations throughout the Kansas City area.

During this final day of the Spring Parade, Cottonwood Canyon visitors can also experience another one of the community’s appealing features: its walkability. Now that Mill Creek Road is complete, the Lenexa Civic Center is a short walk away. The civic center is part of the larger Lenexa City Center, a mixed-use hub that includes the newly opened Lenexa Public Market, indoor aquatic center, fitness facilities, and a public art gallery.

Inside the community, streets lined with stately homes from some of Kansas City’s best builders meander through the gently rolling terrain. Lush landscaping filled with native Kansas flowers and grasses mingles with natural features like bluffs and streams to create what many homeowners agree are the best views in Kansas City.

Cottonwood Canyon is also home to Canyon Farms Golf Club, a rustic, challenging course that winds throughout the neighborhood. Spring Parade visitors are encouraged to stop by the new clubhouse, which is under construction and scheduled to open within the next few weeks. Features will include a fitness center, swimming pool and an upscale restaurant managed by KC Hopps.

The location, the scenery, the golf course and clubhouse: it all adds up to a rare opportunity for prospective buyers who want so much more than simply a new house.

“Where else are you going to get golf, water and be as close to the Lenexa City Center and all that’s going on there?” said Bruce Rieke, president B.L. Rieke Custom Homes. “Cottonwood Canyon is right in the middle of it.”

Of course, no trip to Cottonwood Canyon is complete without touring its enviable homes. Two show-stopping entries are the focus of the Spring Parade, both of which exemplify the craftsmanship, timeless design and attention to detail that are evident in all of Cottonwood Canyon’s homes.

The first is a beautiful reverse 1½-story home from Dreams & Design Building, a luxury homebuilder with 25 years of construction experience. The four-bedroom, three-bathroom home offers a generous 3,152 square feet of living space highlighted by a spacious great room that flows seamlessly into a fully equipped kitchen, breakfast nook and, outside, an inviting cedar deck that’s surrounded by Cottonwood Canyon’s unmatched views and lush foliage. Just imagine starting your day with a cup of coffee as you relax on the deck and soak in the gorgeous scenery.

Downstairs, the home’s inviting lower level includes a large family and media room with easy access to a ground-floor patio. The home’s lower level also includes two bedrooms, a full bathroom and a half-bathroom.

The second home is an award-winning model from B.L. Rieke Custom Homes, a longtime Cottonwood Canyon builder with a well-earned reputation for quality, customer service and expertise. The reverse 1½-story floor plan is the first of its kind from B.L. Rieke Custom Homes, a breathtaking example of eye-catching architecture and thoughtful planning.

“This home has some new looks for us,” Rieke said. “We’ve done a lot of what I call ‘Western style’—this home has a few of those elements, but also new looks as well as grays, different ceiling and fireplace treatments, and better quality product.”

While they experience Cottonwood Canyon, Spring Parade visitors are encouraged to talk to the marketing team about available homesites. A new phase recently opened, adding some incredible locations to the community’s already impressive selection. Until Cottonwood Canyon’s final phase is complete in 2018, just 20 homesites remain in the enclave-like community.

Cottonwood Canyon will be open until 6 p.m. Sunday before the Spring Parade of Homes concludes. Stop by and discover all that’s waiting for you in Lenexa.
