The Fall Parade of Homes may be over, but the incredible success of the beloved annual event continues to resonate throughout iconic lifestyle community Loch Lloyd.
“Never in the history of my career have I seen so much Parade traffic,” said Patrick Willis, president, Willis Custom Homes. “What’s happened at Loch Lloyd has just been incredible.”
Ashlea Black of Loch Lloyd’s marketing team agreed with Willis and said that the Parade was the community’s most successful to date, breaking all records.
“The recent release of 65 new homesites, paired with our six new model homes, definitely sparked interest and boosted attendance,” Black said. “People are genuinely excited about Loch Lloyd’s continued growth and wanted to learn more about building in our three new phases.”

Amid the flurry of excitement generated by Loch Lloyd’s new phases and homesites, several of the community’s renowned builders showed the depth of their skill and expertise with six new model homes that took center stage during the Parade.
One of those model homes, a gracious reverse 1½-story home from Willis Custom Homes, delighted visitors with features they haven’t yet seen in this part of the country.
“The comments I get about the plan – people say they’ve never seen anything like it unless they’ve been in the southwest part of the country,” Willis said. “I met people from all over the country who came to Kansas City just to see the Parade homes.”
A large part of the home’s appeal is the open, thoughtfully designed floor plan that eliminates rooms that are typically unused in homes, thereby creating larger, more inviting living spaces. And in keeping with the Loch Lloyd philosophy of intelligent design and year-round outdoor living, features like a huge sunroom with glass walls that open to the outdoors, a spacious outdoor kitchen and a coveted location on Loch Lloyd’s Tom Watson Signature Design golf course make spending time outside as appealing as relaxing indoors.
For Willis, the opportunity to build in Loch Lloyd is a chance to bring to life a natural synergy between the company’s custom floor plans and the community.
“It’s so fun to build out here because you have to hit the mark,” Willis said. “Loch Lloyd residents feel like they’re on vacation, and that’s how you have to build the homes. People want to relax and entertain. And this floor plan – our flagship reverse plan – is tasteful, comfortable and approachable. People can envision living in the home and loving it.”
The exemplary work of Loch Lloyd’s model home builders wasn’t only noticed by the large number of Parade visitors. The Parade’s judging panel also took notice.
“We’re pleased to note that three of our models won top honors from the Home Builders Association for their Parade entries, including Willis Custom Homes – Grand Award winner, Pick of the Parade, and first place, Distinctive Plan & Design; Don Julian Builders – Grand Award winner for Pick of the Parade and first place, Distinctive Plan & Design; and Koehler Building Company – Grand Award winner, Pick of the Parade and first place, Distinctive Plan & Design,” Black said.
Although the Parade is over, the new model homes remain open from noon to 5 p.m. this weekend for those interested in experiencing the Loch Lloyd lifestyle firsthand. Once you’ve toured the new model homes and are brimming with inspiration, team up with one of Loch Lloyd’s builders to create your own custom masterpiece on one of the community’s 65 new homesites, 14 of which are spectacular wooded acreage with the community’s highest building standards; 16 that overlook the seven-acre golf course lake with spectacular golf views beyond; and 29 lots for those looking to right-size through intelligent design.
“One myth we’re working hard to dispel is the notion that Loch Lloyd is built out – that we’re finished,” said Chuck Campbell, broker and president of real estate development at Loch Lloyd. “Nothing could be further from the truth. Loch Lloyd is comprised of over 1,200 acres and we still have some of our most spectacular land yet to develop.”
All that Loch Lloyd has to offer is thanks to the vision of the developer, FiveStar Lifestyles. At the helm of FiveStar are two of Kansas City’s finest entrepreneurs – Neal Patterson and Cliff Illig – the founders of Cerner Corporation. Illig and Patterson remain committed to the success of Loch Lloyd, working tirelessly with the community’s renowned builders and architects to bring the dream of creating Kansas City’s finest resort lifestyle community into reality.
“We believe in Loch Lloyd so much and what it has to offer, including the stability of the ownership and the development team,” Willis said. “There’s no other place we build that has the feel of Loch Lloyd. It’s like stepping into a whole other world when you’re out here.”
