The Des Moines-based owner of 801 Chophouse is launching a new seafood concept in Leawood.
Jimmy Lynch plans to open 801 Fish in Park Place, at 117th Street and Nall Avenue, by the end of the year. It will serve “pristine seafood and crustaceans from the waters of the world,” according to promotional materials.
The 7,000-square-foot restaurant will have a more open layout and be less formal than 801 Steakhouse. Still, customers will be able to choose from different dining experiences, perhaps coming in just for a drink and half-a-dozen oysters, or for several courses starting with caviar on ice.
801 Fish will have about 60 fulltime employees.
Lynch, who had previously owned a seafood restaurant, currently owns 801 Chophouse restaurants in Des Moines and Omaha. He opened an 801 Chophouse in the Power & Light District in late 2008 and then, in late 2011, added a second area location in Park Place. He said 801 Fish will compliment 801 Steakhouse, and the two restaurants will not only share customers but bring new ones to the center.
“We really like Park Place management and the vision that they have. And we like the clientele. The business clientele is getting stronger every day,” he said.
While the Leawood 801 Fish is set to open first, Lynch also plans to open 801 Fish restaurants in Des Moines and Omaha.
