Will Little III is a 19-year-old midfielder, but he doesn’t want soccer to be his biography. Off the field, he is a model, clothes designer (his brand name is Break, as in breaking away and being yourself) and a photographer.
Little plays for the Swope Park Rangers, which is Sporting Kansas City’s United Soccer League club team. He has seen playing time for Sporting.
Sitting on a bench after a grueling training session in June, he says, “I want to be known as I guess what you would call a renaissance man.”
“I don’t want to be one of those guys who plays soccer just because I make money from it or because I have to,” he continues. “I don’t want it to be like that for me. I want it to be, I play soccer because I love it, and then the day that I stop loving it, that’s the day I stop playing. And I’ll do other things I love, and I have something to branch into and go off of.”

Two and a half years ago, Little moved to Kansas City from his hometown of Johnson City, Tenn., to join Sporting Kansas City’s Academy. Around that same time, at 17 years old, he developed an interest in photography stemming from his experience modeling since he was 10 years old.
When he’s not working with Sporting, he now spends his time taking pictures.
“They all have a meaning,” Little says. “They’re not just what I think looks cool. They all have a meaning behind them, or something you can look at and it gives you a purpose to look at it — not just me. You can make your own assumptions.”
He loves seeing most anything through the lens, but his favorite thing to shoot is nature. It gives him a chance to get away from people and find some peace.
Little has just begun school through Southern New Hampshire University’s remote program, since his dedication to soccer prevents him from being able to physically go to college. He will major in photography and film.
