Watch KC’s Paul Rudd play with ‘Super Power’ in a ’90s ad for Nintendo

The Onion’s A.V. Club and Uproxx dug up an old Super Nintendo ad that features Kansas City’s very own Paul Rudd.

The future big star of “Ant-Man” sports the classic late-1980s/early-’90s sport-coat-over-a-T-shirt combo while playing “SimCity” and other Super Nintendo games on what appears to be a drive-in theater screen.

The haircut also is choice.

“Long before the days of Alicia Silverstone and Sex Panther,” Joe Blevins writes for TV Club, “Rudd was laboring in the trenches of episodic TV (with recurring roles on “Sisters” and “Wild Oats”) and commercials.”

Here’s another ad featuring the Shawnee Mission West grad, this one for Toyota.

In the same spirit of nostalgia, we dug up some old photos of Rudd from an appearance here in 1998, some of which have never been published. Scroll through them above.
