This, ladies and gentlemen, just might be the photobomb to end all photobombs. How many people can say that Queen Elizabeth II jumped into their shot? Some lucky Australian hockey players can.
The queen made an unscheduled visit to the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland on Thursday, arriving early for a Wales-England match scheduled to follow an Australian game.
Startled to see their royal visitor, the Australian players started taking selfies and lo! One of the players managed to plant herself in the right place at the right time to catch the queen in her photo.
“Ahhh the Queen photo-bombed our selfie!!” hockey player Jayde Taylor tweeted, posting the photo she took with teammate Brooke Peris and the queen behind them.

According to media reports, the queen was quite interested in the players, striking up conversations with several of them. “She was lovely, really, really lovely,” said one player.
Taylor later jokingly tweeted Ellen DeGeneres, whose epic selfie at the Oscars earlier this year nearly broke Twitter.
Tweeted Taylor: “@TheEllenShow I think our selfie tops yours! #queenselfie #queenphotobomb #hockeyroos #callme.”
