Mad about Nell: Starbucks barista mistakes Helen Hunt for Jodie Foster

In case you’re confused, that’s Jodie Foster on the left and Helen Hunt on the right.
In case you’re confused, that’s Jodie Foster on the left and Helen Hunt on the right.

That time when Helen Hunt walks into a Starbucks and gets mistaken for Jodie Foster?

It happened.

Helen Hunt (“Twister,” “Mad About You”) tweeted a photo of her order from Starbucks with the name “Jody” written on it. Her caption: “Ordered my drink @Starbucks. Asked the barista if she wanted my name. She winked and said. We gotcha. #JodieFoster.” The tweet has more than 28,000 likes.

Appropriately mortified (because the barista also misspelled Foster’s first name), Starbucks tweeted about two hours later: “Sorry about that! We hope the drink was still as good as it gets,” referencing a movie Hunt starred in to show they know the difference between the actresses. Foster is famous for such films as “Silence of the Lambs,” “Nell,” and “Sommersby.” But did the company offer Hunt complimentary drinks?

It didn’t stop fans from having fun at the expense of the gaffe, though. One of our favorites comes from Lariat Winslow, who pitched some fun mashed up movie titles, including “Mad About Ewe.”
