Paul Rudd says the Royals are America’s team (Captain America’s team, that is)

Royals fans torn over whether to support Captain America or Iron Man in the upcoming Marvel heroes battle royale “Captain America: Civil War,” might want to consider supporting the guy with the shield.

In a social media campaign drumming up interest in the May 6 release, Twitter users are asked whether they’re #TeamCap or #TeamIronMan. Tweet one way or another and you get a (seemingly) personalized message back from the movie’s stars.

In one response, Paul Rudd, whose Ant-Man sides with the Star-Spangled Avenger in the film, says, “We’ve got a good team. We’re like the Kansas City Royals. And not some other jerky team that’s not the Royals.” Rudd also assails those picking Iron Man’s side for being anti-American.

In “Civil War,” the government wants control over the Avengers, and the film pits Captain America (Chris Evans), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Ant-Man (Rudd) and the Scarlet Witch (Elisabeth Olsen) against Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), War Machine (KC’s Don Cheadle), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johannson).

Spider-Man (Tom Holland) also fits in the mix somehow, the first time ol’ Web-head appears in a Marvel movie.

Some new footage and a trailer were released during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night. See it here.
