Oh, you smooth operator!
If you’ve ever wondered how Jason Sudeikis won Olivia Wilde’s heart, an interview on “The Howard Stern Show” is for you. Wilde said Sudeikis played a classic “long game.”
“It was kind of sweet,” she said of her fiance, who grew up in Overland Park. “He literally didn’t kiss me until the fourth date. I was like, ‘Oh no, he’s gay!’ He was so smart. He just knew how to get me on the hook.”
The actress told Stern she met Sudeikis at a “Saturday Night Live” after-party where she was swaying on the dance floor by herself. Sudeikis walked up to her and said, “Whatever you’re looking for, you don’t need it,” and then abruptly walked away.

“What does that mean?” Stern said.
“Oh, he’s smooth,” Wilde replied. “It was definitely a line. … It was so mysterious. That’s why I liked it.”
It helped that Wilde was a Sudeikis fan. Still, when mutual friends Kristen Wiig and Jason Bateman tried to set them up, she was hesitant.
“I was like ‘I don’t know,’” Wilde said. “He dates really, really pretty girls” (including Rosario Dawson and January Jones).
That’s when fate stepped in. Sometime after their brief meeting, the two just happened to run into each other on the streets of New York, and Sudeikis got her number.
But remember the long-game strategy?
“He played it really cool,” Wilde said. “He didn’t text me for a month. I was like ‘Did Jason Sudeikis die, ’cause I don’t have any texts?’”
When he did text, she said, it was “witty and perfectly timed.” And when he ultimately kissed her?
She was “totally head over heels,” she said.
The two got engaged in January 2013.
Stern then asked the obvious question. When do the couple, who share a nearly 2-year-old son named Otis, intend to get married?
Wilde didn’t give a date but said, “We want more kids. I can’t wait to have more.”
Maybe Sudeikis is playing the long game on their wedding, too.
