Billed as the first R-rated CG-animated movie, the film — coming Aug. 12 — is from the slightly twisted minds of Rogen and Evan Goldberg. It tells the tale of an intrepid hot dog named (what else?) Frank, whose dream comes true when he and his fellow wieners are plucked from the obscurity of plastic packaging at the grocery store. But Frank’s dream soon turns into a nightmare when he learns what really happens to food when it goes home with humans.
Hint: It’s horrible!
Rudd, who grew up in Overland Park, joins fellow funny celebrities Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Craig Robinson, Nick Kroll, Edward Norton and Salma Hayek.
The movie features sight gags, just about every groan-worthy pun you can think of, ear-blistering profanity and food-related violence.
“I’m even shocked,” said Rogen after the film’s work-in-progress screening at the South by Southwest Film Festival. “And we made it.”
