“American Hustle” star Amy Adams had social media buzzing Friday with the story of what she did for a soldier.
Friday morning, after seeing the soldier in uniform waiting to board their L.A.-bound flight in Detroit, Adams quietly asked flight attendants to give the man her first-class seat in exchange for his spot in coach.
One lucky fan in coach took a selfie with the Oscar nominee and posted it to Instagram with this message: “Not the best picture of me but i just met Amy Adams on my flight to LAX, this is my claim to fame. #holys*** #selfies #amyadams #soexcited“
Jemele Hill, co-host of ESPN2’s “Numbers Never Lie,” saw the kind gesture go down, tweeted about it and then told the story to several news outlets.

At first Hill thought that the serviceman didn’t know who had given up their seat for him. But a flight attendant told Hill that he chatted privately with Adams near the front of the plane.
“I just thought it was incredibly classy and thoughtful,” Hill wrote in an email to Today.com. “I already was a fan of hers, but now I'm a bigger one after today.”
