We watched the red carpets, the monologues, the dance sequences and the cut-off speeches.

And although 2015’s awards shows usually ran an hour too long, we still held out in case something important happened.

Like this.

In no particular order, here are the most memorable moments from awards shows in 2015.

When Kanye West announced his plans to run for president at the VMAs:

Speaking of Kanye, the rapper poked fun at his infamous VMA stunt after Beck won Album of the Year at the Grammys:

(Jay-Z and Beyonce’s reaction = priceless.)

Kristin Wiig surprised us all when she showed up unannounced in a performance of Sia’s “Chandelier” at the Grammys:

Also at the 2015 VMAs: Nikki Minaj confronting Miley Cyrus:

Turns out Minaj was not fond of Miley’s comments to The New York Times about Minaj a few days before the show.

On a positive note, Justin Timberlake’s performance with Chris Stapleton at the CMAs stole the show:

Viola Davis was the first black woman to win an Emmy for Leading Actress in a Drama, and her speech struck a chord with viewers nationwide:

Common and John Legend’s emotional performance of “Glory” at the Oscars had the audience on their feet:

And Jennifer Lopez proved she’s still got it with her opening dance number at the AMAs:

Here’s to hoping 2016 doesn’t disappoint.
