Model Chrissy Teigen is known for her quick wit and rapid-fire jokes, but her latest revelation is no laughing matter.

On the new talk show FABLife, Teigen revealed that she and her husband John Legend have struggled with infertility issues.

The topic was brought up after the show’s panel discussed whether it was OK to ask people about their plans to have children.

“It’s a sweet question,” Teigen said. “It comes from a good place, but sometimes you never know what the person [is going through. What you really want to say [is], ‘I’m trying and I can’t.

“It’s been a process,” Teigen said. “We’ve seen fertility doctors, and then once you open up about all those things to other people you start learning that a lot of other people in your life are seeing these people, and have this shame about it.”

Teigen and Legend have only been married two years, but met each other almost ten years ago, Teigen said.

“We would have had kids five, six years ago if it would happen,” she said.

And although Teigen is used to seeing negative comments from her Twitter followers, this was an exception.
