Dolly Parton on weight: Either starve or get fat

We're not sure we'd ever want to sign up for a

Dolly Parton

weight loss program.

"I'm up and I'm down, but I don't have any tips for anybody," the country singer told Us magazine at the Broadway opening of "9 to 5: The Musical" in NYC. "It's a bitch any way you look at it. You either starve or you get fat."

Weight came up the same week that former Jenny Craig spokeswoman

Kirstie Alley

admitted to

Oprah Winfrey

that she has regained the 75 pounds she lost. (Hey, it happens.)

Parton, 63, told the celeb mag that she doesn't exercise much - aside from "a tiny little bit of squats and sit-ups" - but still has to watch the scales. "I'm very short, so I just have to watch my weight because I have a big appetite," she said.

She might not have any weight-control tips, but the tiny Parton knows all about smoke and mirrors: "You need a good push-up bra - and wear clothes that make you look good."
