Over the last couple of weeks both Schwarzenegger, the star of the previous three films, and the film’s director,McG
, waffled over whether they would use Arnold’s likeness in the new movie – which is due in theaters May 21st.
Schwarzenegger had made it clear that it would have to be done digitally. He’s too busy being the Governator to devote time to the movie. Both he and McG have recently said they didn’t know whether Arnold would make it into the movie.

Their uncertainty always seemed like a smokescreen to me. I mean, the film’s digital effects are being handled by
’ Industrial Light Magic. I think they know what they’re doing.
Now it’s been confirmed byVariety
that the governor will indeed appear in the film.
It was originally thought that Arnold’s image would be superimposed onto the body ofRoland Kickinger
, who has actually played Arnold before. Kickinger, who is also an Austrian-born bodybuilder, certainly does look like Arnold.
Now it is being said that an old body-cast of Arnold taken during the first “Terminator” will be used to make a digital image. It is unclear if Kickinger will still be used.
Either way, this is awesome news! It may even help me tooverlook
the fact that the movie is going to be rated PG-13.
