Survivor: Federal prison

Richard Hatch

has asked a judge to free him pronto from the prison stint he’s serving for not paying taxes on his $1 million prize for winning the first season of “Survivor.”

Hatch, who is representing himself, filed the request this week, according to court documents. He’s serving a four-year and three-month sentence at a federal prison in West Virginia.

His 43-page memo claims he should be released because he is innocent, was represented by ineffective lawyers and that a judge improperly calculated his prison sentence.

Prosecutors will respond to Hatch’s motion in the coming weeks. In October, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to consider Hatch’s appeal.
