Ed Hardy founder Christian Audigier dies at 57

Women’s Wear Daily reported on Friday that Christian Audigier, the French businessman who built the clothing empire Ed Hardy, has died of cancer at age 57 in Los Angeles.

Audigier’s illness was first reported in January. He told TMZ that he had the bone disease myelodysplastic syndrome.

Though Ed Hardy and Von Dutch were the most popular brands he worked on, he also worked with Levi’s, Diesel, Guess, American Outfitters, Bisou Bisou, and XOXO, according to WWD.

He had a following among celebrities, including Ashton Kutcher, Dennis Rodman, Madonna and the late Michael Jackson.
