There’s a new heartthrob in Japan and it’s not a pop star or famous actor — it’s a gorilla.

That’s right, an 18-year-old silverback named Shabani is catching the attention of female onlookers at the Higashiyama Zoo who can’t help but notice the gorilla’s good looks.

So what about this gorilla is making the girls go ga-ga?

“He's more buff than most gorillas and he's at his peak physically,” Takayuki Ishikawa, spokesman for the Higashiyama Zoo told BBC. “We've seen a rise in the number of female visitors. Women say he's very good-looking."

Shabani’s good looks even earned him a spot as the zoo’s campaign model for their spring festival.

“He will look you in the eye, and sometime if you’re taking photos it will looks like he’s posing for you like a model,” Ishikawa said.

Women on social media were not shy about their desire to see the Shabani in person.
