Spoiler alert: This story contains news from Monday’s episode of “The Bachelorette.”
Well, Tanner thank you for giving us Kansas Citians the most legitimate reason to watch “The Bachelorette.”
Kansas City’s Tanner Tolbert was eliminated from Monday night’s rose ceremony, along with bachelor Ben Z. Tanner was frequently the source of comic relief throughout the season. But to be honest, it was surprising he made it as far as he did, considering he rarely got alone time with bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe.
This was one of the most emotional weeks for Kaitlyn, as the guilt of being “intimate” with Nick and telling Shawn that he’s “the one” in last week’s episode clouded many of the dates and conversations she had in Monday’s episode.

Here are some highlights from Monday’s episode:
All of the tears
Kaitlyn, there’s no crying on “The Bachelorette.”
Can you imagine if that was a rule? Well, good thing for the bachelorette it’s not, because girl cried her eyes out. Again. And again. And again.
With the amount of crying and kissing, you could make a Bachelorette drinking game. And in fact, many have.
The episode started where it left off – with Shawn in Kaitlyn’s hotel room confronting her about his jealous feelings.
“Are you in love with me?” Shawn bluntly asks.
“You can’t put me on the spot like that,” Kaitlyn responded. “I’m falling in love with you.”
Clearly crushed from Kaitlyn’s answer, Shawn admits he’s not sure “he can do this anymore” – AKA be in a situation where the girl he loves makes out with eight other dudes. Even though Shawn is still not sure he’s going to stay on the show, they stared at each other for an awkward amount of time and made out. Clearly resolving the issues at hand.
“The guilt comes from where my relationships are at with other people,” cried Kaitlyn, the first of many times she cried during the episode. “The feeling are just, at this point, overwhelming.
One of the most awkward moments of the night was watching the two-on-one date between Joe and JJ. They went on a boat ride to Ireland’s Eye, where they had a romantic picnic –- yep, all three of them.
Joe was the first to get alone time with Kaitlyn on the date, where he confessed that she’s “one in a million” and that he, like many others, are falling in love with her.
“I was really hoping Joe would open up and he did,” Kaitlyn said. “He kinda blew me away.” Apparently saying “I love you,” and talking about nothing else will do the trick.
JJ’s turn was next. He’d had barely sat down before he blurted out that he had cheated on his wife three years ago, which led to his divorce and less time with his daughter. Kaitlyn said cheating is her biggest fear when it comes to relationships, but she did appreciate honesty. So snaps for JJ.
But when it was time to give one of the bachelors a rose, Kaitlyn –shockingly—didn’t give it to either of them. Yet she still sent JJ home, as she didn’t see a future with him and didn't want to waste his time since he has a daughter. It’s one of the more logical decisions Kaitlyn’s made in a while.
‘These are my confessions’
Still reeling from “the one” confession and the fact that Kaitlyn has feelings for other guys, Shawn decided to confront Kaitlyn once again in her hotel room following her date with JJ and Joe.
Hearing the knock at her hotel room, Kaitlyn knew it was Shawn.
“I can’t. I’m freaking out. I don't want to go through this,” cried Kaitlyn in her room.
Eventually opening the door, Kaitlyn was nervous Shawn wanted to go home because he found out about her and Nick. But, in reality, he wanted to talk about her calling him “the one.”
Kaitlyn, girl, you dodged a bullet—for now.
If they’re going to make it as a couple after the show, Shawn needs to accept the fact that she has other relationships, Kaitlyn said. It’s no fair that she has to keep reassuring Shawn, while the other guys are remaining positive about the less than ideal dating situation, she added.
“It worries me that Shawn needs all this reassurance and there are still things he doesn't know,” Kaitlyn said. “There are still other relationships in my mind.”
Nick gets emotional
Before the rose ceremony, Nick got unusually emotional when he scored one-on-one time with Kaitlyn at the weekly cocktail party.
“It wasn’t easy last time,” Nick said, as he wiped away his tears. “It wasn’t easy this time.”
(Also, side note: Does anyone else thing Nick looks like the bad guy from “The Incredibles?)”
Meanwhile also at the cocktail party, Kaitlyn tells Shawn that her confession “messed everything up.” And due to the conversation they had in her hotel room, Kaitlyn wants them to take a step back in their relationships and evaluate what they want.
Fortunately for the Ryan Gosling look-a-like and fan favorite, he was able to snag the very last rose at the rose ceremony.
Host Chris Harrision gave Kaitlyn a visit during Monday’s episode, bestowing the paternal wisdom she desperately needed. She told him about her drama with Nick and Shawn, and it was as uncomfortable as any father-daughter talk about boys is.
Every one “screws up,” Chris said. Maybe not the best choice of words, buddy.
But he also told Kaitlyn that the format of the show was going to change. Typically, the final four contestants bring Kaitlyn to their hometowns to meet their families and then the fantasy suites follow.
To make sure all of the contestants get their alone time, Kaitlyn will have her fantasy dates with three of the contestants. The family visits will be with the final two bachelors, Chris explained. Kaitlyn will have to narrow six contestants to three in next week’s episode.
“I think it's good to have an even playing field before we bring the families into this.” Chris said. Yeah, I would think so too.
Cheer up, cupcake
Chris, aka “Chris Cupcake,” scored his first solo date of the season, making the dentist from Nashville very giddy. The two go on a helicopter ride over the Cliffs of Moher and they shared a picnic literally on the edge of the cliffs.
And while Kaitlyn asked Chris Cupcake about what their life would look like if they were together, she seemed clearly distant during the date.
And once Cupcake asked Kaitlyn how she was doing, down came the waterfall of tears.
“I’m like sitting here, and I just feel like with you it’s so good,” Kaitlyn said. “But I also don't want to lead any relationships on. I just don't know if I see us being together forever.”
“I see what you’re saying and where this is going,” Cupcake, desperately trying to salvage this date. “You’re just scared.”
“I don't know if there’s something that can be done,” she cried. “I feel like something is wrong with me because you are everything I want, but I don't see it. In this moment, I feel like I need to say goodbye to you.”
And with that, Kaitlyn said goodbye to Cupcake and rides off in the helicopter. Meanwhile, Cupcake kept muttering “I just don’t see it,” a little too close to the edge of the cliffs. He eventually loses it, drops to the grass and balls his sweet little eyes out.
Kaitlyn, would it have killed you to give the poor guy a ride home?
