Spoiler alert, spoiler alert, spoiler alert!

Here we are, as we usually are on Mondays, talking about a “Game of Thrones” shocker. But this one was especially heart-breaking.

On Sunday’s episode, Stannis sacrificed his daughter, Shireen, burning her at the stake upon Melisandre’s advice.

And as she watched her daughter screaming in agony, Stannis’ wife, Selyse, broke, but was too late to stop the horror.

“It’s one of the most horrible moments we’ve shot, just in terms of the emotion of it,” the show’s executive producer and writer, David Benioff, says during an “Inside the Episode” video from HBO.

Fans were inconsolable on social media.

But don’t blame Benioff for the horrible scene. The blame belongs to “Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin.

“When George first told us about this, it was one of those moments I remember looking at Dan and it was just like that is so horrible, and so good in a story sense because it all comes together,” Benioff says.
