Take a listen: Lorde’s new track for 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1'

Fans of Lorde and “The Hunger Games” rejoice!

The New Zealand rock singer/songwriter (who sold out her show at the Midland back in March and whose real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor) has dropped her first song for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” soundtrack.

The audio-only track of “Yellow Flicker Beat” popped up on Vevo Monday and already is closing in on 1 million listens.

The song has the distinctive Lorde feel — broody, synthy with driving beats — with lyrics that channel the darkness of the last book in “The Hunger Games” trilogy: “I’ve got my fingers laced together/and I’ve made a little prison/and I’m locking up everyone who ever laid a finger on me.”

Lorde wrote on her Tumblr page that "it's my first offering from what i hope will be a soundtrack you love. it's my attempt at getting inside her head, katniss'. i hope you like it." Katniss, of course, is the reluctant heroine of the dystopian saga.

“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” opens Nov. 21.

Until then, take a listen.
