J.K. Rowling slams Westboro Baptist Church over Ireland’s same-sex marriage vote

Noted without comment: The back-and-forth Twitter exchange between Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka about Ireland becoming the first country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage.

Rowling celebrated the vote with a meme that said if Harry Potter’s Dumbledore and Gandalf, wizard from the Lord of the Rings, were gay they could get married in Ireland.

Then the church threatened to picket such a ceremony.

Then Rowling said:

Some fans didn’t think that Rowling should have given the church publicity by responding.
