If he didn't know it already, Lin-Manuel Miranda just found out that dog-lovers are an empathetic bunch, and doggone creative, too.
On Thursday, the "Hamilton" creator posted a photo of his dog, Tobillo, wearing one of those cones that vets put on animals to keep them from licking, scratching, biting and otherwise touching themselves.
And seemingly in one voice, Miranda's 2 million Twitter followers went awwwwww.
They know Tobillo, who pops up often on Miranda's Twitter. They felt her pain.
Tobillo, by the way, is Spanish for "ankle." Miranda named her that because she used to nibble on his wife Vanessa's ankles when they dated, according to the Celebrity Dog Watcher website.
So apparently Tobillo — Miranda calls her "Tobi" — recently stepped in gum and kept licking at her paw, which got inflamed.
"She'll be fine," Miranda tweeted later.
But in the meantime, Miranda's tweet inspired a flood of dogs-wearing-cones tweets and photos.
Shame, they feel collective shame.
One dog wore a "donut of disappointment."
But this guy seemed to wear his proudly.
Some of the cones didn't even look like cones because, you know, dog-lovers, they get the job done.
People also shared photos of their cats wearing cones because dogs certainly don't have all of the fun.
Sometimes, cones are good for something.
And when they're not, sometimes all a kitty can do is strut.
