Election season on “Saturday Night Live” is one of our favorites and the 2016 season got underway over the weekend with Kate McKinnon taking on the role of a maniacal Hillary Clinton in the opening sketch.
The Washington Post deemed it “pretty good.”
No, it really wasn’t.
McKinnon doesn’t sound anything like Clinton or look anything like Clinton – except for the bob and the square suit jacket.
It’s unfair to compare that to Tina Fey’s memorable Sarah Palin but that’s where our mind goes.
And Kate McKinnon is no Tina Fey.
Or even Miley Cyrus. Don’t hate us, but we liked Miley’s SNL Hillary from 2013 better.
We did laugh out loud at this line, though, uttered by McKinnon/Clinton as she announced her candidacy: “Citizens, you will elect me. I WILL be your leader!”
McKinnon has more than a year to work this out, as the real-life Clinton just announced her bid on Sunday.
