Multiple news outlets, including People magazine, reported on Wednesday that Barry Manilow and his longtime manager, Garry Kief, secretly married in a “commitment ceremony” last year.
The ceremony, first reported by the National Enquirer, reportedly took place at Manilow’s home in Palm Springs, Calif., in front of about 20 to 30 guests who thought they were there to attend a lunch.
“It was a surprise,” a friend of the couple told People.
Manilow's rep declined to comment.

Manilow, 71, and Kief, 66, reportedly did not file any paperwork to legalize the union because they didn’t want the news to get out. But both have been seen wearing wedding rings.
The Enquirer reported that longtime friend and neighbor Suzanne Somers served as the best man.
Manilow, known for keeping his private life private, has never discussed his sexual orientation publicly but sources say he’s never tried to hide it.
