Here’s what you didn’t see Monday night during the epic Van Halen appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” David Lee Roth got a little carried away with a microphone stand and whacked himself in the face.

He obviously felt the blow because he put his hand on his nose and saw the blood. The band was performing “Panama” and Roth, like a rock star, kept singing but he eventually walked off the stage to grab a towel.

“Ladies and gentleman, give us one second here,” he said, walking back on stage. “We’re filming on tape and ... I just cut my nose on the microphone or whatever. Let me get this taped up and we’ll start again. I’m so, so sorry.”

None of this drama made it into the version that was aired. But now you know why he had a bloody bandage taped to his nose.
