We knew Austin was weird, but Jimmy Kimmel and Matthew McConaughey just took weird to a new level with their bit for “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
Kimmel and his crew took the show to Austin for the city’s annual South By Southwest festival and decided to help out a local business along the way.
The actor, who lives in nearby Round Rock, helped Kimmel shoot three different kitschy commercials for Vulcan Video, an old-school video store with two locations in Austin.

“Tired of streaming movies directly to your TV?” Kimmel asks in the first commercial spot. “So many options, so much scrolling, so many things to click. Who’s got time for all that clicking?
“If trying to stream is making you scream, why deal with Netclix when Vulcan Video makes it so easy?”
“Quit scrolling, quit streaming, start dreaming about V-H-S,” McConaughey quips.
We’re just sad McConaughey didn’t offer up a long, drawn out monologue about time as an endless circle. Maybe next time.
