Third time was not the charm – sorry, had to say it – for former “Dancing With the Stars” pro Karina Smirnoff, who reportedly has called off her engagement to actor Jason Adelman.

The two just got engaged in January.

A source close to the couple confirmed the break-up to Us Weekly, calling it “such a complicated mess.”

Smirnoff has been busy promoting her new book, “We’re Just Not That Into You” and has been spotted recently without the huge emerald-cut diamond ring Adelman gave her.

Smirnoff has come close to the altar twice before. In 2008 she became engaged to fellow “DWTS” dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy; they broke up within a year.

Next she was engaged to professional baseball player Brad Penny, now a pitcher for the Chicago White Sox, from late 2010 to late 2011.

TMZ reports that Adelman called off their engagement because Smirnoff has “different family values.” He was apparently uncomfortable with the way Smirnoff behaved around other men, especially dancers, sources told TMZ.

Though Smirnoff has not commented on the break-up, a rep called Adelman’s alleged comments “disrespectful and insulting to the entire dance community.”

Meanwhile, Smirnoff reportedly gave the ring back.
