A video of a Giant Pacific Octopus at the Seattle Aquarium trying to climb out of its tank has gone viral this week.

But aquarium folks are downplaying the attempted jail break, saying the Giant Pacific Octopus wasn’t trying to escape – it was just exploring its new space.

Aquarium spokesman Tim Kuniholm told Q13 FOX News that the “video has been blown out of proportion.”

The new octopus – boringly named Ink – is in a new exhibit and was “exploring his boundaries,” said Kuniholm.

“In the video that’s been shared by the public it’s one of our staff members helping Ink back into his exhibit after exploring the edge.”

But, we can also hear in the video how visitors responded to seeing a giant octopus trying to climb out of its glass tank.

Those screams weren’t blown out of proportion.

“He's making a break for it!” yells one person.
