Mark Zuckerberg speaks Mandarin in a Lunar New Year greeting that he posted on his Facebook page.

CNN Money reports that the Facebook founder and CEO made a New Year’s resolution several years ago to learn the language. He reportedly taught himself.

His inspiration came from his wife, Priscilla Chan, whose family speaks Chinese.

The New York Times reported last fall that Chan’s grandmother was “very shocked” when Zuckerberg told her in Chinese that he was marrying her granddaughter.

In October 2014 Zuckerberg hosted a 30-minute question-and-answer session entirely in Mandarin at Tsinghua University in China.

Native Mandarin speaker Yuntian Wu at Business Insider declared that Zuckerberg “is getting a little bit better than before considering the tone. It also sounds like he can speak Mandarin smoother than before. However, this might because that the line of current video could be prepared and practiced before the video shooting.”

CNN translated Zuckerberg’s message. He said:

"Hello everyone, happy Lunar New Year! At Facebook, we will have a big Lunar New Year celebration. During the celebration, we will have lion dance performances and traditional Chinese food. I wish everyone a Happy New Year. I wish everyone in the year of the Sheep, happiness and to be proud of all things.”
