Betty Lou Motes, mother of Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts, has died at the age of 80, according to several media outlets.
She had lung cancer and was receiving treatment at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, Calif., at the time of her death, sources close to the family told In Touch Weekly.
Her death comes a little more than a year since Roberts’ half-sister, Nancy Motes, 37, died of a drug overdose on Feb. 9, 2014. Her death was ruled a suicide.
