As any superhero would do, Dalton Rodriguez ran toward the sound of a car crash last week to help. But here’s the irony: He was wearing his Superman costume at the time.
“I didn’t even remember I was wearing it,” he told The Hutchinson News. “I heard the crash and it didn’t even register.”
The newspaper reports that Rodriquez was the first on scene when a car crashed into a hardware store on Hutchinson’s Main Street during a back-to-school celebration. He was still on the scene when the police and fire department arrived.
No one was hurt, though the driver was reportedly ticketed for inattentive driving.

Rodriguez told the newspaper that his stepmom suggested that he wear the costume to the back-to-school event so that kids could have their pictures taken with Superman.
He’s worn it in public before, most notably in June at the first Smallville Festival hosted by a group of local residents campaigning to get Hutchinson renamed after Clark Kent’s hometown.
Rodriguez brushed off suggestions that what he did was heroic, telling the paper, “It was just perfect timing.”
