The dreams of countless Hiddleswifters are now lying on the cold hard ground.
People reported Tuesday afternoon that celebrity couple (and paparazzi bait) Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston have called it quits after three months of dating. An anonymous source called it “an amicable split.”
It has been a busy summer for Swift, who has endured a Twitter callout by ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris, a Snapchat expose by Kim Kardashian and Kanye West and even an unhappy Fourth of July guest in actor Ryan Reynolds.
The couple’s relationship was plagued from the start with rumors that the pop star and “Avengers” villain had crafted it all for PR’s sake, with abnormally quick visits to parents (in different countries, no less) and an obnoxiously sweet T-shirt worn by Hiddleston.

While People reported the breakup was mutual, another source told Us Weekly that Swift had concerns, and the paparazzi pressure led to the passion fizzling out.
When it comes to public opinion of the split, however, there are clearly two different camps:
What can we learn from the short-lived Hiddleswift? It may only be a matter of time before Swift releases a chart-topping hit inspired by the British heartthrob.
