Two of the bigger names in indie-music have announced spring tours, and Kansas City made both lists.
Singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens will perform at the Midland theater on April 21, a Tuesday. His previous Kansas City show was Oct. 17, 2010, at the Uptown. On March 31, Stevens will release “Carrie & Lowell,” his seventh studio album.
Death Cab for Cutie will perform at the Midland on April 23, a Thursday. That show will be the official opening for the Death Cab’s 2015 North American tour. Today, the band released “Black Sun,” the first single off its upcoming album, “Kintsugi,” which will be released on March 31. It will be the band’s first release sine 2011’s “Codes and Keys.” Its previous Kansas City show was at Crossroads KC on July 8, 2012.
