Music fans can expect faster and better cell phone service during concerts at the Providence Medical Center Amphitheater.
AT&T announced Wednesday that to improve internet connectivity, it will employ a cell tower on wheels (COW) at the Bonner Springs venue during the 2016 concert season.
“Premier concert venues such as Providence Medical Center Amphitheater are full of customers who want to instantly share memories through texts, pictures, status updates and phone calls,” Mike Scott, president of AT&T Kansas, said in a statement. “We’re working hard to give them great coverage and fast speeds.”
The amphitheater has 16 concerts scheduled through mid-September, including Thursday’s Keith Urban show and Friday’s “I Love the ’90s Tour” featuring Salt N Pepa, Vanilla Ice, Tone Loc, Coolio, Young MC and Rob Base. The venue has a capacity of 18,000 fans.
