Springsteen’s ‘River’ tour skips KC but will stop in St. Louis

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are hitting the road in 2016 to celebrate “The River” album. Friday, it announced the nine-week tour, which comprises 24 shows in 22 cities. Kansas City is not on the list, but the tour stops at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis on March 6. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Dec. 11.

The River Tour celebrates the release of “The Ties That Bind: The River Collection,” a box set that comprises 52 songs from “The River” session plus three DVDs of videos. The collection was released Friday.

Springsteen last performed in Kansas City in November 2012. That was only his fourth Kansas City performance since April 2000. The River Tour also stops in St. Paul, Minn., and, oddly, Buffalo and Rochester, N.Y., which are only 75 miles apart.

No word yet on whether he will announce other tour dates in 2016. Springsteen will be the music guest on “Saturday Night Live” on Dec. 19.
