Randy Newman to perform with KC Symphony this spring

Singer, songwriter and composer Randy Newman is coming to the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

He will perform with the Kansas City Symphony in Helzberg Hall on June 10, a Wednesday.

Tickets will go on sale starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday via kcsymphony.org or by calling 816-471-0400. Prices: $49 to $89.

It will be Newman’s first performance in Kansas City since a Folly Theater show in October 2008, the year he released “Harps and Angels,” his most recent studio album. For a review of that show, with set list, go here.

Newman, 71, is has been nominated for nearly two dozen Academy Awards.

He has won two, most recently in 2011 for “We Belong Together” from “Toy Story 3.”

That same year, he won the most recent of his six Grammy Awards. It was for best score soundtrack, also for “Toy Story 3.” He is a member of the Songwriters and Rock and Roll halls of fame.
