Soul superstars Mary J. Blige and Maxwell have announced a co-headlining King and Queen of Hearts World Tour, and it will stop at the Sprint Center on Dec. 12, a Monday. Ro James will open the show. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.
In a press release announcing the tour, Maxwell said of Blige, “Mary is the epitome of soul. She embodies all that is woman and speaks for the everyday struggle and triumphs of all women.”
Blige said, “Maxwell’s music is amazingly soulful and calm with a colorful tone that speaks to the hearts of all women. His music makes them feel loved.”
Maxwell will be touring on “BlackSUMMER’s Night,” his fifth studio album, released in July.

Blige’s most recent Kansas City performance was in August 2006, when she brought her Breakthrough Experience Tour to Starlight Theatre. Maxwell’s previous Kansas City show was in May 2010, when he and Jill Scott performed at Starlight.
