Michael Stern, music director of the Kansas City Symphony, and his siblings are asking $7.65 million for the Central Park West apartment in New York City where their mother lived.
Vera Stern occupied the three-bedroom, sixth-floor unit in the Beresford building at 211 Central Park West for about 20 years.
Stern and his brother, David, a conductor in Paris, and his sister, Shira, a rabbi in New Jersey, want to sell the condominium unit. Vera Stern died last year.
Her original purchase price was $2.4 million, according to the “Gimme Shelter” section of the New York Post, which reported the current asking price Thursday.
Vera Stern was divorced from Isaac Stern, one of the world’s most famous violinists. The Stern family previously had lived in a larger unit in the same building, the Post reported, adding that comedian Jerry Seinfeld now owns that larger condo.
Michael Stern told the Post that the Steinway B piano he grew up with is still in his mother’s former apartment.
