Joyce DiDonato commands the Met stage as Mary, Queen of Scots

Last season, Kansas-born mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato headlined a starry lineup in the Metropolitan Opera's baroque pastiche “The Enchanted Island.” On Monday night, she brought a gala audience to its feet with a luminous performance in the title role of Gaetano Donizetti’s “Maria Stuarda.”
