“X Factor” auditions are coming to Kansas City, and producers are seeking thousands of fans to cheer on the hopefuls.
Judges Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell will audition singers at the Sprint Center for the reality show’s fall season.
The judging will be taped in front of live audiences, and free tickets are available to those 12 and older who are willing to spend hours taking part and possibly being on camera. Four sessions are planned: 1 and 6 p.m. June 8, and 1 and 6 p.m. June 9.
Audience signups are at on-camera-audiences.com/shows/The_X_Factor. The website is issuing vouchers that may be exchanged for tickets on the day of the auditions on a first-come basis. More vouchers are issued than there are seats, and admission is not guaranteed.
A voucher for one of the June 9 sessions says the taping will last five hours. Drinking and eating will not be allowed, and there is a strict dress code: “Hip, upscale attire is mandatory,” and jeans may be allowed only “if worn with nice top.”
Kansas City is one of five audition sites. The others are Austin, Texas; San Francisco/Oakland, Calif.; Providence, R.I.; and Greensboro, N.C.
Fox announced just last week that Spears and Lovato would be added as judges for the competition’s second season, replacing Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.
The winner of the first season was Melanie Amaro, who won a record contract and an appearance with Elton John in a Pepsi commercial that aired during Super Bowl.
