Is it borrowing or plagiarism? Questions raised about work co-commissioned by KC Symphony

A year ago, Kansas City audiences heard a new work by noted Argentine composer Osvaldo Golijov. Called “Sidereus,” it got an airing by the Kansas City Symphony, one of 35 orchestras that commissioned the 11-minute work. In the last few weeks, Golijov’s piece has come under coast-to-coast scrutiny as questions were raised about its originality.
